Canada Post Strike - November 15, 2024

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has announced it a national strike on Friday, November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET. Post offices are closed and new shipments are not being accepted until further notice.

Please read below to hear how we are managing this news.

All Orders Placed After 9:00am on Friday, November 15th

  • All packages will be sent with a carrier other than Canada Post and will include tracking.
  • We will not be able to ship to box numbers until further notice.
  • If you are in an apartment, condo, or unit without mailbox/front door access, please ensure your phone number, buzzer number, and any applicable information is included at checkout.
  •  Complimentary Lettermail shipping will be unavailable until further notice, but we have reduced our free shipping minimum to $75.00. If you are ordering on Etsy, you will need to enter code CPSTRIKE.

All Unshipped Orders Placed Before These Changes

  • All tracked orders will be going out as usual with carriers other than Canada Post. We will be in contact via email if we need additional information from you to ship your order.
  • All Lettermail packages will be held until Monday, November 18th as we wait for more information and direction from Canada Post. If mail delivery does not resume, or have an immediate date to do so by Monday, we will begin dispatching these orders using other methods.
  • If you wish to upgrade your shipping prior to Monday, please reach out to Brittany via email (please do not reach out via social media).

Orders In Transit

We have been assured that all orders in transit are secure and will be delivered on a first-in-first-out basis once delivery resumes.

A Note From Our Founder, and the Knotty Design Co. Team

News of this strike is devastating to our small business during what should be our peak months. We depend on holiday sales to carry us through the winter, and we will be doing everything that we can to continue operations. The biggest impact to our customers will be mail delays to orders placed before the strike announcement and an increase in shipping cost until Lettermail becomes available again and returns to normal.

Please know that we are real people behind the scenes that care deeply about our products, our customers, and the delivery of our orders. Until this morning, we were under the impression that the strike would be rotating, causing possible delays, but not a complete halt of service.

We will share more information as soon as we can, but I did not want to delay this announcement any longer.
